Singapore government allocates S$600m for skills upgrading

For the past months, BLEEK job market were beset by worries over the poor economy. Many expects it could turn worse with more losing jobs.

The government announcement to allocate S$600m for skills upgrading today has given workers a booster jab.....and outlook may not may be so bleek, after all...

Workers will get training and upgrading opportunities, and will also be helped to acquire new skills so they can get jobs in sectors less affected by the downturn.....such as service & tourism sectors.

Employers can enjoy higher course fee support for Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) or courses which are nationally certifiable courses. Looking ahead, things are much more rosy with big events such as the opening of the two Integrated Resorts in a few years on the calendar. Hence, individuals should continue to acquire new skills so that one can capitalise on the growth opportunities later.
