My laptop of 5 years suddenly went into "coma....and passed on" after serving me deligently for 5 good years. No sign of breakdown....never bid farewell... and gone!I think she is overworked and exhausted.

Fortunately I did "purchase" a "life premium issurance" for her. ie back up all my files...HENG AH!

Hope the new toy serves me well....at least I dun have to strain my eyes so much when working long hours. The "face" of this desktop is 21"....

On this Christmas Eve, we were happy to be invited to FM Love 972 talk show. The theme is on consolidating what listeners had achieved/benefited through its programmes in 2010, one of which is "Career Campus" hosted by DJ Violet Fenying.

Both our students, Linda & Pek Lin were the "beneficiaries" of the programme. They attended CIBTAC Diploma In Aesthetic Treatment course and graduated in 2009 and 2010 respectively. Both are now qualified beauticians at Mary Chia Holdings.

Infant and child massage/tuina facilitates kids to have a deeper understanding, integration and connection with their parents and caregivers.

Last weekend, our Academy was filled with happy kids "seasoned" with massage and tuina, older kids more keen in poking fun on younger ones as well as "fussy" baby with loads of "complaints". Nonetheless, we believe the parents had picked up relevant skills from our facilitators - licenced Chinese Physician Ai Tee and Certified International Infant Massage Instructor Penny Chew.

Remembering Childhood Days

We were once kids before we reached this stage of development. We missed the days when we used to play hide and seek in the backyard, eat simple snacks (Kuai Kuai) and read "lao fu zi" comics . Childhood days are the days when life was lived with no complexities.

It is inevitable that we grow up but that does not mean that we lose sight of our childhood memories. There is always a child in all of us! These items was found during my shopping spree in HK, Shenzhen and Bugis Junction....Ha ha...probably its signs of "ageing"

It was a "rowdy" afternoon at the recording studio where we have lots of fun. Apart from the usual updates, chatting and posing for photos, the essence of this afternoon's programme was from a lady listener.

She requested Fenying to repeat the contact number again....and slowly....because she was "disturbed" twice by an aeroplane which flypast her house whenever Fenying announce the contact number. In her words "每次你报电话号码，那飞机就飞来吵我, 我就听不到!".....very humorous lady! Ha Ha Ha

The CIBTAC examination season in Apr would be hovering the mind of our Beauty Aesthetic students. Relax...... Practice Abdominal Breathing

Instructions

Step 1
Lie on your back in a comfortable setting. It's easier to practice abdominal breathing in a quiet environment.

Step 2
Place one hand on your abdomen, below the rib cage, and one on your chest. Placing your hands on the abdomen and chest helps you focus on using your diaphragm while breathing. The diaphragm is dome-shaped and assists with breathing. It moves downward and upward during inhalation and exhalation. Our lungs expand and deliver more oxygen when the diaphragm moves.

Step 3
Breathe slowly through your nose. Hold the air for 7 seconds. Your stomach will rise, raising your hand. The hand on your chest should remain still.

Step 4
Exhale all of the air slowly through your mouth while counting to 8. Let yourself go while exhaling, and imagine your entire body relaxing.

Step 5
Repeat this cycle four more times. This allows your body to relax.

Step 6
Practice abdominal breathing twice a day. If you practice abdominal breathing often, it becomes a normal process, and you'll notice health benefits. Abdominal breathing increases energy and reduces stress and anxiety

Its all for a good cause. The "charity cut" graced by Minister Lim Swee Say and Minister Gan Kim Yong receives overwhelming respond. Students from Monsoon Hair Academy, led by Addy Lee did a very good job during the 4-hour cut. Every beautiful encounter has to come to a close. We hope the many months of hardwork and time you have invested in the Diploma course has reaped returns. Regardless of the results, you deserve a round of applause for your determination.

The age group these 33 students varies from 19 years Xiao Wei to 62 years old Yah Ho. Xiao Wei and Soo Feng shuttle between Singapore and Johore twice weekly or more to attend class. Yah Ho, Sharon, Pek Lin and many did not simply give up because of their "disadvantage" (age and language barrier). Frankly, I do feel a sense of "sadness" when each students bid me goodbye after their exam during the last 3 days....

Anyway, we look forward to the Graduation Ceremony (tentatively on 29 Nov or 26 Dec 09). Continue to practice your skills and stay in touch!

Special thanks to all the models who turned up during the exam. Not forgetting our Trainer Cincelia who skipped lunch for the last 3 days just to make sure her students are preapared and ready for each session of exam.

Try the below exercise which I learnt from a medical specialist who practises aesthetic and anti-ageing medicine.

You can do the exercise anytime to de-stress. Just be aware of your breath. Its simple.

Mini De-stress

Step 1. Three sighs
Breathe deeply into your diaphragm. You need to see your stomach(not your chest) expand with the breath.

Step 2. Concentrate on your breath.

Just returned from Shenyang & Shanghai ....partial official and part personal.

During the last 2 weeks, I realised that living away from your country can be an interesting and unforgettable experience, but at the same time it has very important effects on one's life.

The effect is that once you start a regular life away from home, you miss everything, especially food and your normal lifestyle. We also need to accept another type of society and culture into your daily life.

"Home Bread" & "Home Bak Gua" from Singapore (My 1st Breakfast In Shenyang)

Moral of the story is.... POSITIVELY ADJUST TO DIFFERENT ENVIRONMENT AND CULTURE.

In our Academy, we have a good mix of local and foreign students in our CIBTAC and WSQ courses...Malaysian, Chinese National, Philippines, Indonesia etc...

In such an environment, we should postively view that we are rewarded with great friends who may stimulate our growth and help us broaden our horizon.

Thought Kaiwei who is on a 1-year NUS Overseas Internship Programme in Shanghai Fudan University had adjusted very well.

Was so happening the whole of this week...

We started our Oct intake of CIBTAC Diploma In Aesthetic Treatment 2 weeks earlier to cater for the needs of our new students....

Henry, our graduate Bridal Make-Up student was interviewed by Violet Fenying on Radio FM Love 97.2 on tuesday to talk about his career path after completing the Certificate In Bridal Make-up course. Guess what, he is already receiving more orders to help brides make-up.

We have also had some wonderful ladies with us for the Face & EyeBrow Threading course on a cool Saturday morning....with a little "ouch ouch" initially. But totally enjoying it when they learn the "rope" or rather the ways in handling the thread.

MOCK EXAM.......So Real

The MOCK CIBTAC Exam on Sunday was a good "full dressed rehearsal" for our students. They were "assessed" according to CIBTAC requirements.

I am very glad our students and their model had taken the mock exam very seriously.... kudos!, you deserve full marks for deportment and professionalism!!
